Working backwards

I bought these three frames at an art tag sale. So I am working backwards, getting the frames first then creating the art that goes with them. I decided on three florals. The large crow feather at the bottom of the picture I am going to cut and use it as a pen. I hope it works.

I know it has bee n a long time. I have been caught up in the Pirate a Day blog. I finally finished one of the two Gabby paintings.

Watercolor update

I forgot how much I don't enjoy painting watercolors on newspaper. But that part of the process is done. On to acrylics.

Art Shows

The opening at Rockwell went well. No sales, but a full house. Also hung my art at Nature's Temptation in Ridgefield. The first pictues are from Rockwell, the last one from Nature's Temptation.

I have started two new pieces. Since the smaller ones on paper have been popular, I am going to try a larger size. I have been trying to figure out what to do with these photos I took in Bryant park, and this is it. they are both 18" x 24".

My friend Chris Smith has challenged me to a grudge match. Everyday we send each other a sketch. Somehow we got on a pirate theme. I guess the first image looked like a pirate to me, so I did a pirate back and so on. Anyway I will be posting our sketches here every day. Enjoy.

The big news is I am going to hang my art at Wilton Pizza this weekend. And in December I am going to hang my work at the Sundance Cafe in Stamford.

Ridgefield Arts Council

A few weeks ago I was asked to become a board member of the Ridgefield Arts Council. I accepted. Then I had to be approved by the board itself. Once that was okay I then had to be vetted by the town and then be interviewed by the town board of selectmen. That happened last night and I was approved. Woo hoo! Now I have to be sworn in by the town clerk and it is all official.

Commissioned Piece

I forget where I left off on the commissioned piece I did. My friend was happy with the work. The big questions was will his wife liked it. After a lot of nail biting, she loved it. Yay!  Her is the piece.

I'm back

The commissioned piece was picked up tonight and I am already into my next piece. I have a show coming up this november and I want to get this new piece done for it. Here is the inking phase.

AWOL

I know I have not posted in a while I am working on a commission piece for a surprise. I'm not sure if the person the piece is for reads my blog so I am not posting it yet.

Here is the second one of the series of four. After finishing the watercolor portion of the painting, I just couldn't see how adding acrylics would make this any better so I stopped after the watercolors.

A new brush

 a long time ago I bought this brush that I have been dying to try. well I finally took the wrapper off and took it out for a test drive. I decided to use it for this pigeon series. They are from pictures I took in NYC. I did the brush work then did a little spritzing with a spray bottle while the ink was still wet.
